The Forgus 31 was designed as a half-tone ship for offshoring. The first boat was built in 1973 and was designed by Lars Hedberg together with Holger Formgren and Jarl Petterson. The ships had a length of 9.30 m land a beam of 3.20 m . The keel weighed 1.8 t with a total weight of 4 t. The early 31s (made before 1978) can be seen at the smaller windows in the construction and the WC just below the decline. The newer ships had more space and the toilet in front of the salon. The layout of the kitchenette has also changed over the years.

Forgus Yachts were built on the Swedish island of Orust together with Hallberg-Rassy, Najad, Malo and Sweden Yachts. The construction began 1973 with the Forgus 31.
